EHS Certified Pre-owned Cats Adoption Event

Pittman & Davis

The problem: hundreds of sweet, cuddly, adoptable adult cats are languishing in our shelter. Many of our clients gravitate toward tiny kittens, which are plentiful in the summer months, leaving our adult shelter cats without a home and a family to call their own. Right now the Edmonton Humane Society is caring for close to 220 purr-fect cats who are waiting for homes. Approximately 125 are currently available for adoption and many more soon will be, once they are spayed or neutered. Although our new facility is a beautiful and inviting temporary home for our animals, we strive to find them forever homes as quickly as possible so that they can begin their new lives and we can help more animals in need. The solution: we seek out creative ways to let people know to consider the shelter first when they are looking for a pet to complete their family. Studies have shown that many people acquire their cats from pet stores; on-line or newspaper ads; or from people they know, instead of visiting animal shelters. We hope that an upcoming, exciting “Certified Preowned Cats” adoption event on June 5 & 6 at our shelter will bring awareness of the wonderful cats here at the shelter and help to alter this trend. www.edmontonhumanesociety.com

  5. Yes, Lexus of Edmonton and other generous sponsors are covering the $130 adoption fee for anyone adopting a cat (6 months and older) on Saturday or Sunday, June 5 & 6. Please note that you should allow about 4 hours in the shelter if you are coming, since our extensive adoption process still applies, to allow people to determine if this is a good time for them to bring a cat into their life.

  6. Very awesome! I wish I could make it down and pick out a cat…

  7. @SNSDluverr 100% free. The standard screening process I’m sure still applies, but you don’t have to pay for anything this weekend.

  8. Great idea! I believe in hope and the time has come for mankind to step up and take care of ALL animals. Do the right thing, ADOPT
