Pittman & Davis Poll Reveals Top Dog Names for 2010

Adopt. Name. Love.

North Hollywood, CA (PRWEB) September 29, 2010

In celebration of National Dog Week, released its list of the 50 Most Popular Dog Names in America, gathered from a poll of over 20,000 pet owners – and MAX and BELLA came out on top.

“The dog name Bella, popularized by the ‘Twilight’ series of novels and movies, appears on the top of our human baby name list, too,” commented Jennifer Moss, Co-Founder and CEO of and its companion company, “And the large number of human names on the list reflects the fact that many people consider their pets to be a part of their family.”

CHARLIE, JACK, BUDDY and JAKE are the next most-popular male dog names, with DAISY, MOLLY, LUCY and SADIE among the top five name picks for female dogs. An identical poll for cat lovers revealed that MAX and BELLA are also the top cat names in the country.

The newly-launched offers a full search engine of pet names and meanings, akin to the one that’s made the leading website in its category. The site also features puppy, kitten and other pet care advice, celebrity pet news and information on spay/neuter and rescue organizations.

Moss, who’s been active in the animal foster and rescue movement for many years, says, “There are so many wonderful homeless dogs and cats — both purebred and mixed — in shelters and rescues out there. We hope our site will encourage and provide resources for people to adopt instead of purchase their pets – and then let us help you name them!”
