It’s okay for what it is, which is a demo.
It took a looonng time to download, and the result is okay.
Nothing really exciting as all you can do is create them, but not interact with them.
Overall, my reaction is “meh”.

I love the sims, I have played since the first sims game came out. This made windows crash. I would not try it again.
I made the mistake of downloading this free demo directly from the Sims 3 site. If you already have Sims 3 games on your system – do not download unless/until you move those files into a segregated area. The demo attaches to your current games and removes all of your store content and for many people, including me, then crashes. I had to uninstall the demo and them uninstall and reinstall ALL of my Sims 3 games because I couldn’t play after uninstalling the demo….I lost EVERYTHING! All of my sims, custom content, EVERYTHING! I spent an entire day I can never get back reinstalling my Sims games.
There’s no recourse because we all check the little box before we download that says we accept the product as-is and agree that EA bears no liability. Still – there’s a reasonable expectation that the producer of the game will not release a demo that is utterly defective. Check out the forums at […], and search on “pet demo”…I am not alone here!!
I certainly hope that the Pets expansion pack is not so flawed….they did push the release date back a few weeks from 10/18 to 10/29, so they must be working on it. I was so disappointed and upset after losing all my content; especially after looking forward to the Pets expansion pack for so long – I pre-ordered it last July!!
I will never again assume a demo is safe just because I can download it from the manufacturer’s website….a very painful way to learn this lesson. Please be smarter than I was!!
